The school will provide advanced training in risk and uncertainty in natural hazards from some of the UK’s leading academics.

The school is open to postgraduates, early career researchers and scientists from industry and government agencies.
- Introduction – led by Professor Thorsten Wagener
- Forward propagation of uncertainty – Dr Tamsin Edwards
- Expert elicitation – Professor Willy Aspinall
- Sensitivity analysis – Professor Thorsten Wagener
There will also be guest lectures from:
- Professor Steve Sparks FRS, CBE – Hazard and risk assessment for aviation safety from volcanic ash
- Dr Jonty Rougier – Assessing the value of information in hazard assessment
- Ken Mylne (Met Office) – Improving decision-making with uncertain forecasts
- Professor Sir John Beddington (former UK Government Chief Scientific Advisor) – 21st century risks – a UK perspective
This summer school is being held in conjunction with the Cabot Institute, the University of Bristol’s environmental research institute, and CREDIBLE.
